Nation wants to know

arnab goswami nation wants to know Yes, Nation wants to know that how does this person know, what the nation wants to know?

Every day at 9pm, you can spot him on TimesNow conducting a wild and furious discussion on your TV sets, applying all the powers his vocal cords have. The debate is not as wild as it looks like but it is just him who turns the volume up. Yes, I am here talking about Mr. Arnab Goswami, Editor in chief of the channel.

He came, he saw, he shouted, he shouted again, he thought he conquered and he left. This is a daily schedule of Mr. Goswami on show called ‘NewsHour’ .
The basic concept of the show is to conduct a discussion cum debate on certain topic between politicians or different parties and sometimes some celebs participate too. But the twist comes in the scenario when this show is actually conducted by a person who possesses some extra ordinary skills of journalism, influencing powers and a great grip over facts and figures. The panelists of the discussion may speak for or against the topic but Mr. Goswami always stays against everything they say.

The most interesting part of the show generally has the loudest range of voice, where Mr. Goswami has already proved half of panelists guilty of being on the show and claimed that all the questions he is asking in on behalf of India, as he keeps saying that. I have seen many of his episodes (and trust me I am still alive) and as per my observation, this guy, Mr, Goswami is not against any political party (yet), unlike Rajdeep Sardesai and Barkha Dutt. No one can identify which side he is speaking from but we can clearly see how brilliantly he puts his words in someone else’s mouth and make him say what he should not say on television. He has a great power of manipulating an individual and that’s exactly what he making a use of.

In a discussion it is important to prove your point, but when the discussion needs the oxygen of TRP, it is even more important to neglect other’s point or simply just don’t give them a chance to speak or prove their point.  Here are some top phrases, that Mr. Goswami uses during debate to lower the volume of rest of penalists and to prove that he still holds a full control on the show:

  1. Nation needs an answer tonight…
  2. India wants to know…
  3. One minute, Ek minute, One second, One.. One.. One.. Minute…
  4. I wont let you politicize this time…
  5. You can’t get away like this…
  6. We don’t have much time…
  7. We have a caller… We have a caller…
  8. I’ll get back to you on this… but before that…
  9. I am worried, I am concerned and I don’t agree…
  10. I am asking this question tonight on newshour to you…

And the best part is that the show has no specific finish time. The show begins 9pm but lasts till Mr. Goswami is enjoying. You can clearly see that the time when every penalists are totally pissed off and are about to grab Mr. Goswami’s collar, he declares a wrap up, thank everyone to be on the show and camera goes off. Sometimes the show lasts 50 minutes that’s like “News 50 minutes” instead of “NewsHour”.

Personally, I am now offcially a fan of Mr. Arnab Goswami. Not because his show enlightened me, not because he proved the system wrong, not because he influenced me to bring a revolution but because of the skills he have (that actually every journalist should posses) and also because of the guts he have to blame (and sometimes spoil the image of) any person of what he has done, live on television, who is already holding great powers politically. There are few things that apparently make him look loud and weird but those are actually essential for his profession and to establish oneself as a star journalist, in the nation where a star can be either a film actor or a cricket player. No doubt he is a well know name now, otherwise the brand like Flipkart wouldn't have conducted a huge campaign of a kid mocking Arnab Goswami's style.

10 Heads of Ravan: Boon or Curse

We all have heard a lot of things about Ravan. yes he was having 10 heads, he was a filthy rich guy and bla bla blah. But no one actually though about the challenges he had faced in his life with those ten heads.
Think for a while, does having 10 heads was a boon for him or a curse ?
Few things about Ravan you never thought of -

  • Ravan used to wear shirts only.. no tshirts.. or else he has to wear it via first putting his leg into it and then pulling it up.
  • Ravan was the only member in panel when it comes to B-School Group Discussion
  • Ravan has to to pay 10times of the "per head" entry charges in pub/discs every time.
  • Ravan was a real nightmare for all barbers and dentists of SriLanka
  • In case of loud noise, he can never put his fingers in years.. 10 heads = 20 ears and only 10 fingers..
  • His Castle used to have extra wide doors.. so that he can go through them easily
  • He has a Chariot, no two wheeler.. or else cops would have charged him for not wearing helmet(s)
  • If he believe in Gandhi.. if someone slaps his face.. he still has to offer other 19 chicks to him
  • He can never play football, because he got confused which head to head the ball... but as a goalkeeper he would have played really well.
  • In childhood, he never had to tilt his face to look into classmate's notebook while cheating in exam (That's a boon I guess)
  • He has to buy iPod with 20 earpiece earphones
  • Ravan never uploaded his picture in facebook DP, he always have to go for cover image only.. where he can tag himself 10 times
  • In case of serious injury, Ravan could never go for a CT scan
  • He can alone demonstrate fair & handsome's "dus guna nikhara gorapan" gimmick without any computer graphics

One thing is guaranteed.. he was not "born" with 10 heads.. (if you know what I mean :P )
Don't you think his life was really challenging and we all curse him of being so cruel and his pissed off behavior, all the time. Think for a while of the problems Ravan would have came across with his 10 heads and let me know in the comments.. :P

PS: Happy Dussehra

Being Engineer !!

I have met many people who underestimate an engineer. They should know that Engineer cannot be judged by his grades or the views his HOD have for him (This line doesn't means that I have poor grades). There are many qualities that an engineer posses, but might not found in his CV. Below are few of those qualities that gives the engineer an extra edge.

Career Scope-
An engineer can become software developer, bank manager, IAS officer, Business manager or even a BPO assistant.

Values-
There won't be anything called "Hot chick" in engineering college hence they understand their value and start respecting every girl.

Working under pressure-
Even though he (might have) never experienced "one night stand" ever but he knows how to survive examinations via "one night studies"

Determination-
Engineers love to sleep, but they never go to bed early. Nights are not made to be spent sleeping, lecture are.

Meticulous-
Engineers are not lazy they are just highly motivated to procrastinate.

Kindness-
Engineers love everybody, apart from their faculty, project head, Deans, scientists, new boyfriend of their ex-girl friends, authors of their curriculum books, power cutoffs and slow internet.

Team Work-
Team Projects and group seminars might have failed to teach them this quality but mass-bunks and proxy attendance will surely teach the value of team work.

Maturity-
Engineers get to know that world is full of dishonest people, when they join the college just because they have read the words like lavishing infrastructure, supporting faculty, 100% placements in their college brochures. Also when they get to know that girl's photo they saw on brochure doesn't exist.

Network and relations-
None of the relatives or any friend's mom ask them before but once they graduate everyone calls them at their home (so that they can fix their table fans, mixers or radio transistors).

They recognize people with the mobile phone they carry and their laptop configurations rather than their names or faces.

Fast learning-
Even highly qualified faculty might have failed in teaching them a topic, but he will remember every word of it when his friend dictates it before entering the examination hall.

Learn by Fun-
Playing tic tac toe during class, late night counter strike tournaments, watching T20 with friends and completing Angry birds stages during lab sessions gave engineers more competence than any other sport.

Sacrifice-
Two engineers saw a hot chick in mall,
first reaction: ABE dekh be, Gazab !!
second reaction: jaane de yaar aukat ke bahar hai.
Engineers also sacrifice their clean shaved look, to look more hard-working during exams for self motivation.

Resource managements-
Engineers know that a 3G connection and 4Gb pen drive is the first requirement before preparing for practical exams. Engineers know the value of every single bar in Wifi connectivity symbol and phone batteries.

Staying Healthy-
Engineers never compromise with their health, they stay fit and immune due to regular dosage of maggi and backed-samosa. Having food at Punjabi dhaba and tea at extra-(un)hygienic Gumti is the part of their diet.

Engineering is not just a degree... it teaches you the way of living life like a warrior. Engineering gives a perception and attitude. It teaches you the survival.
Next time you meet an engineer, show some respect… don't ask his grades instead offer a friendly hi-give or a Buddy-Punch (or a weed if he is interested).

Keep calm and love them

I am a BIG BIG fan of animated movies. I also used to watch the diagonally opposite genre too like action and sci-fi too, but the animated flicks specially from Pixar and Disney amuse me a lot and pull that little kid outta me. I have watched the movies like Cars, Ratatouille, Wall E, Up, Monsters University, Despicable me, how to train your dragon etc all over again and again so many times. I actually liked the way they came up with those awesome characters.

Characters like lightning mcqueen from carswall e, mike from monster's university, minions from despicable me are adorable and fun  to watch. The creators, screenplay writes and animation artists together weave a story around those characters brilliantly. The best thing about those movies is that they introduce their characters and make audience familiar with the theme effortlessly. The facial expressions, movement, body language of the characters and the background score together shows how creative a human can think and make.

I appreciate the skills of all those creative people behind this movies, who are responsible to bring expression to cars, filling up emotions in a robot like Eve from wall-e and making dragon face expressive enough (toothless from how to train your dragon) etc. If you have seen those animated movie you wont disagree with me saying that.

I was fascinated to the virtual world, cartoons, video games, animation from the childhood (like every other kid, duh) but I still love to watch those movies (at the age of 23). In past few days I watched the movies despicable me and despicable me 2 and I fell in love with those minions. These minions are not just cute, adorable but also tremendously funny. I wish if they could make just make a movie on those minions doing things and nothing else, I would love to watch that movie again and again and would laugh whole heartedly like a little kid.

Love, Sex, Dhokha aur Suicide

Ok, I know I am pretty late in writing a blog about Jiah khan's suicide case but actually this blog has no direct relevance with it. Jiah khan's suicide incidence was just a excuse for me to write about such cases.

A month ago, when I came across the shocking news of Jiah khan suicide attempt, I felt very sad knowing about her pain and depression, it was not that easy circumstances she was going through. I feel pity for her situation but I am sorry, I have no sympathy for person who attempted suicide. Suicide is the best way to abuse almighty for life he gave. Though Jiah khan was not so popular actress, but still she was somebody whom people know. She might not be having a huge fan following, but yes, she was a celeb. If you have ever come across her twitter timeline, you can see how pleasant (apparently) her life was. She was an actress, had a loving family, a verified twitter account and pretty expensive blackberry z10 phone. I don't think for such a person, career could be an excuse to end life. Everyone has seen the downfall and things could have turned 360 degrees overnight.  She blamed her relationship for all her depression…wait..  what kind of relationship.. a boyfriend called Suraj Pancholi. Oh cmon, we didn't even knew that Aditya Pancholi has a son, before this incident. He was not even a personality or a celeb yet and she ended her life for him. There are hundreds of such betrayal and breakup cases existing in our society, and with people who are not so rich or popular.

No doubt, Suraj Pancholi is an as$hole, he made her pregnant and betrayed her. That's an extremely heinous crime (in my opinion, its similar to rape), If he is the culprit he should get punished for this crime. But did that suicide made any sense?

Jiah khan case was like a new jhunjhuna for Indian media to play with, for first half of june 2013. The suicide note by her, actually gone more viral than Kolaveri D on internet. Even, if we consider her suicide attempt as a valid step, at least she should have tried some interesting way to do so, or the worst she could have tried is writing "I quit" on the wall of room, to make it perfect filmy shot.  She should have read real life story of Oprah Winfrey once on Wikipedia, before hanging herself. I am sure, she would have cancelled her plan then.

PS: RIP Jiah (Nafisa) Khan, you can pay tribute to her, like me, by following her on twitter (even when she is no more)

Peeling the never ending onion

I wish If could kill the person who came up with the idea of kundali matching software. He might be the most retarded person god ever gave birth to. This invention is actually more dangerous than invention of nuclear weapons.
We waited for such a long period of time to pull India to computer era, but what he did was a total mess. It's like building a multi storey house to live in and removing a pillar to make extra room for garage.

I don't know why the mankind is so obsessed of knowing his future before the time. In India, when a kid is born, the first thing to happen with him after coming out of hospital and before making his birth certificate is to take him/her to pundits. The self proclaimed super intelligent pundits, decides the name or the first letter of kid's name. But that not all, this is the very first step of the journey to the mysterious future of the kid who was actually born 36 hrs ago. The name, time of birth and place of birth together contribute equally to develop a User Manual. Yes, exactly... just like our mobiles phones, vehicles, juicer, grinder and air conditioners, a new born kid in India are actually comes along with a user manual, which in general language we call KUNDALI. Just like we refer user manual first to fix the broken juicer or mobile phone before calling serviceman, the same way, people refer to their KUNDALIs to fix up their broken fates before being completely dependent on god. This kundali is a fancy piece of paper with completely encoded script.

This user manual or, what we call it, a KUNDALI either gave us false belief, over confidence or a misunderstanding …but nothing more than that. How anybody's fate could can be dependent on his birth time or place. There are several people alive in India, who are actually not sure about their birth-date, does it mean they don't have a fate or luck. Not all people living in Bhopal had the same KUNDALI when that poisonous gas got leaked, not everybody working in world trade center on 9/11 had same birth place or time. But still they died same day, the same way.

And even if all these things are in real, if they really work, why do we still have a need to know our future. Every man showing his kundali to any pundit actually seeks for better life ahead, then why do we need an assurance? Why can't we rely on our own hard work, skill and luck, instead of relying on what is written on a piece of paper. Why can't we check a match between man's and women's understandings instead of matching their sun-signs and other kundali related things?

Not just these KUNDALI, but we have found so many ways to see our future like tarot cards, palmistry, astrology and many other bullshits. Going on the same path, we have came up with the ways to get things done in life, like wearing certain color cloths on some day, wearing a particular jem in ring etc.
It's sometimes funny to see how desperate a man could be, to solve his problem and see a bright future via different ways, instead of just giving his own efforts to solve the problem and get a better life.

If human has to work and live according to his KUNDALI, god would have tattooed everything on our bodies right at the time of birth, but he didn't, because he gave us those things that were enough to live a life with… The body, soul, brain and a heart, that's it. Knowing the future won't take us anywhere, but enthusiasm to create one will surely do. Not everybody lives just good times throughout their life, but human has to believe in himself during all the good and bad times, instead of a piece of paper. The beauty of Future lies in remain concealed. So let it remain beautiful.

The Legend of Sarbjit Singh

ok, before you read ahead, here is the disclaimer for this blog:
All the statements, written below are bona fide views of mine. I am not forced, influenced or paid to write down these sentences. All the words written below are not meant to hurt, blame or make fun of any political party, terrorist group or Mr. kapil sibbal.

Here I go,
In past few days, I have came across a shocking news that Sarbjit Singh, an Indian who was imprisoned in a Pakistan jail, was attacked brutally by fellow prisoners and killed. Nobody (accept our dear neighbors  know the truth about the ad-hoc attack, or I should call it a, well planned cold blooded murder. But the time span, when this attack came into the news, the outrage of Indian citizen and blunt words of, so called patriotic political parties, were in the air and riding the media really hard. This has became our habit and this is the first (and last) thing we do in India, as a tradition, whenever such dreadful incident happens.

As usual, outrage couldn't find a way to pass, and thus everyone abused Pakistan authorities while watching news on their television.. that's it, it is exactly like housewives crib for their kamwali bai. Within few hours, it was confirmed that Sarbjit Singh is dead. Our dear honest neighbors made a statement that Sarbjit Singh had his last breath in hospital where he was admitted after the attack. Some of socialists and media tycoons, claim to have a strong proof that Sarbjit Singh was already dead and all the scene of hospitalizing him and availing the best possible treatment was nothing but a deceitful rehearsed set of incidences.

Indeed it was a pathetic attempt by Pakistan but that's not what I actually cared about. All I am concerned about, is the Indian mentality.. we, the Indians, never cared about the facts and reality. All we keep thinking about is our emotions. Yes, of course we felt bad for Sarbjit Singh but not when we came to know that he was attacked brutally  but when we saw the footage of his mother and sisters crying on the news channels. A minute before this incidence, no one ever gave a damn about India-Pak relation, apart from few political parties and some departments of central government.
Undoubtedly, this act was a shameful, deceitful and a savage step taken by Pakistan and they should apologies for everything happened (oh god, did I just said this..!! ) but currently, what I am talking about is INDIA's perspective.
The great Indian media, where print media and news channels plays a pivotal role, in propagating the news, as well as influencing people of nation, about intentions behind the act and the consequences, but what our media actually did, was showing that footage in a loop, where Sarbjit Singh's family members are crying and begging for justice, along with shacking titles in the bottom and a low pitch voice over in extra loud sound. Even the newspapers mentioned the whole act on front page along with spontaneous editorials, full of nothing but euphemistic words and almost-abusive language used for Pakistan  They keep printing, Sarbajit Singh's family's photograph on front page for almost 3 days and inner pages were full of interviews with Sarbjit's relatives (and some of them featured them, with the title as "words of pain" and "acidic tears").

Not blaming any news channel or journalist or any newspaper here, but my question is.. Is this what Indians care about? Is this what we want to watch, know and discuss about?
Newspaper printed photograph of Sarabjit's family members crying, TV channels showing the same footage in loop (some of them also added the thunderbolt effects on the video and played "chitti na koi sandesh, kaha tum chale gaye" in the background).. what does all of these means. It means, we the Indians, want to watch footage like this only and would like to read a news in this tone of words only. Only few news channels, showed the facts and reality of how Sarbjit Singh actually crossed the border, how his family members and his supporters were fighting for his release since decades, what Pakistan's authorities has to say about this in a single quoted statements.

Nobody gave a damn to know about, from when he was imprisoned in Pakistan, why he was there, and if Pakistan actually wanted to kill him, why did they killed him after 23 years of imprisonment ? They could have done it before.. why did they never believed him and tried to figure out his true identity.
If any of body from India, dares to find out the correct answer of these question, then only I can believe that ethics of media and journalism exist in our country. If any of the newspaper, would have printed an interview with the authorized person of Pakistan government about Sarbjit's case.. I would have claimed it as a genuine journal. But no, all this thoughts are the wonderful memories of La-La-Land.. they doesn't exist in real India, what actually exists in India is a mobile number where you can give a miss call to give a tribute to Sarbjit Singh (as if after getting a certain number of miss-call, the Pakistan will send as an apology letter.. my foot)

The epic-ness, wasn't ended here... The so called political parties and departments of central government, always believed that "if we cannot cook a meal, atleast clean the dishes". After everything happened, the tycoons of our society, including socialists gave Sarbjit Singh a title of a "martyr"... WOW. They proclaimed him as a brave martyr and asked government to name a road, bridge, convention centers, hospitals etc on him name.
Here is the point where I felt little offended. No doubts Sarbajit Singh was brave, as he fought for his will till his last breath, he survived through a great pain and whatever happened with him was very sad. But, is that what a martyrdom means?
Lets get back to the fact I was talking about earlier. Sarbjit Singh wasn't hand picked by Pakistan government to be kept in prison, niether he was a soldier who caught by army troop of Pakistan and imprisoned. Sarbjit singh was a farmer, and in 1990, he crossed the border mistakenly, when he was coming back to home with his friend. He was lost in the way in the dark, and he was drunk (no kidding FYI). Though, he tress-passed the border line mistakenly, but it was his own mistake. He was not on the war, neither forced to cross nor pulled by some one from Pak side.
Its Pakistan's inhuman-ness that they took so long time to investigate the case and cross check his real identity. Whatever happened here was bad, not just for Sarbjit Singh and his family members but also for India-Pak relationship.. this incidence made that relationship even more bitter (though, it wasn't sweet since 1948)

A martyr or a shaheed, is the one who fights for his country, who devotes his life to serve for his country and his dear citizens. Sarbjit singh was fighting but for his own relief  not for India's reputation. Sarbjit Singh's family member were in pain, and even I feel pity for them, but for me, martyr's definition is pretty much different and i couldn't connect this incidence with martyrdom or serving for nation, anyhow. It was good till, offering a government job to family members in consolation and naming a road on Sarbjit's name, but giving him a title of martyr was pretty offensive. For me that title, is highly respectful and extremely esteemed. I felt bad for Sarbjit Singh and his family but can never respect him just because he was killed in an attack in a Pakistan's jail, where he was imprisoned.
I am nobody to blame any political party leader or any socialist, neither I have an authority to point finger at someone. But sorry to say, I object giving away a title of martyr.

Women security in INDIA : Whom to blame

Women of India.. Is this a question?.. No the question is "are they really safe", and the answer is "no".."hell, no"

In the past few days, there were so many dismaying incidents, that India has came across. All those incident didn't just raised the question on women security but also proved that, we have failed badly, to keep the women of our society secured and to make them feel safe.

Whenever we talk about countries, every country claims one most important thing to prove themselves superior than others.
Japan claims their excellence in technology, Germany claims superiority in weapons and arms, America claims being most powerful country but when it comes to India, India is a country, who always claimed to have most ancient culture and traditions. We are not just proud but also over-obsessed of our sanskiriti. Even when somebody is asking about the development and GDP growth of India (as competing with others), we start chanting the chapters of our culture and sanskriti, it proves how much we care about our culture and tradition (and also proves that we do not have any proper answer for our development and growth, in competition, so we choose our "culture" as our shield, because that is the best excuse we have since ages).

But the question still stands there, what does this traditions and culture have taught us? Molesting a women publicly? or watching a women being molested by group of people in a busy steet of Gurgaon? Is this the culture, that taught us touching a women body without her consent to paint her on holi and saying bura na mano holi hai
The answer is NO, this is not our culture, that we feel proud about. Our culture has taught us to respect women and respect her choice. The majority class of India belongs to Hindu religion. The religion where laxmi is goddess of wealth, saraswati is goddess of knowledge, kali is the goddess who exist to kill the cruel, in short, women have given a very high status not just in mythologies but also in teachings of our elders. According to ramayana, ravan was the villain who kidnapped sita, but he didn't ever touched her, because he wished to win her heart not just her body (though by evil methods). He never ever touched sita without her consent. (Ravana portrayed as an evil but he was a MAN).

The reality is pretty different than our sky high air-castles, reality is that a medical student got raped in a running bus in the national capital on 16th December and thrown out of bus after getting brutally beaten up. The rapist got arrested within 2 days, public protested in huge amount in front of rashtrapati bhavan, but the protesters were welcomed with water canons on cold day of 22nd December (Hail democracy). Girls in the protesters were beaten up with laathis, pushed and thrown apart as if they were asking for nuclear weapon, not the justice.
Public outrage was clearly seen in newspapers, magazines, online social networks and internet blogs. Government took steps as per their protocol, suspending two-three police officers, convincing people to take necessary steps, reading out their diplomatic speeches written on a paper, in front of media (and asking if the shot was ok, THEEK HAI? ), offering compensation amount to parents of the girl who got raped (i couldn't ever understand how they figure out this amount), naming an over-bridge on her name and so on...
As the time passed by, people started getting busy in their schedules and start saying "Kuch nahi hona is dekh ka".

Still the question was there and even more firm, are we able enough to keep women of our society safe and walk freely on the streets. Answer was same as before: NO.

April 18, a FIVE YEAR OLD girl was raped and half murdered in the national capital, DELHI. Yes, the Damini case wasn't the end of story, it was the warning bell. It was very disturbing and dismaying to know that a 5 year old kid was raped, candles and hair oil bottle was found inside her genital parts. Outrage burst on streets, newspapers, special journo columns, social media and blogs. Rapist got arrested and I am sure, the same old story of how government convince people that "they will take necessary action (what else they can do.. or say for now?)".

The question was still there and will remain there. The another question that arises here, is that, is government responsible for all these acts? Thought, they are here to protect us, but how will they protect a girl living in a house from the evil living in the same house?
It is not merely the issue that government failed to protect us, issue is that, why there is a need of protecting women of society from the man living in same society?
The reason that women of our society doesn't feel safe on streets is because she is afraid of none other but the men living in her own society. It was not just the government, but also us, the society members, who proved failed to protect the women.

We never know, how many more Manoj, Pradeep and Ram singh, are still living among us. But why the men has to become an evil like that. (Though, evil is a very benign word to use here)
The question is in front of us and solution is there, in our mind. We cannot blame government of each and every thing (seriously, no point of doing that). The women will be secured and safe, only when men will promise to behave themselves.
The men of society has to be like a MAN, they should start treating women the way she wants. They have to take the responsibility to protect the women, even if he cant protect all, but he can at least promise to not to attack one.
Not just for a random women, even for your wife, you should respect her.
Even if she is your wife, do not force her for anything and respect her choice. She is not just a sex machine, whom you adore in nights and treat like a slave in mornings.
Men has to understand that women are not just a piece of furniture, or a machine to give birth to child (one after another), she is not a piece of flesh to gain physical pleasure from.
Only we. the society, can make women of our society feel safe, so that she can at least walk freely outside and live with dignity inside their home.

Stop blaming government and BE A MAN.

Jumbo IPL circus

Yeah this is my first official blog post on "the bakar blog" and obviously no one could find out a better subject to start a blog with.. THE IPL. The most, so called, glamorized form of cricket, and that is needed indeed. IPL happens every year, and every year they promise to be more bigger and even more grand. Though, the bigger term here implies for more number of matches, more number of sponsor and even more chu**iyapa.

Teams of IPL were named after states and cities of india, so as to keep whole india engaged and keep cheering the team of their state (even when no body from their state is playing in that team). I would like to thank the organizers that they kept the rules of T20 cricket intact, because they might have chosen the chance to earn some more bucks by sms voting and elimination of players from each team like a random reality show.

In the very first stage of IPL's evolution, the most highlighted news about it was the protest instead of matches. The protest against selling and buying of cricket players, even when the players were not reluctant about it themselves (some people in india mistakenly thought it was like bidding for prostitution and they never apologized for it). The another protest and anger was against the "cheerleaders".. the so called protectors of hindu sanskriti thought they can cook their food here and they called it "jism ki numaish" in those days (even when they are willing to watch IPL only for these firang cheerleaders). But nevertheless, the protest and revolts took an off, maybe because they saw the amount of vibes that IPL created was much more than there revolts.

This year, IPL has entered into its sixth season (just like big boss, its pretty irony..isnt it?)and as always they have promised to be more grand (yes, indeed, they are). DLF no more the title sponsor and the place will now be reserved for Pepsi. The sixes will be called "yes bank maximum", wicket is "citi moment of success" and fours are brought to you by "luminous batteries" (not by the batsman who made it to the boundary line). Every year I think how they will make more spaces for more sponsor and how catchy it could be, and they proved me a fool every year with such glossy ideas.
This year they have spent a huge amount on advertisement, just to create a buzz in market, and they have came up with big campaigns. One is "koi nahi bachega" and "sirf dekhne ka nahi". The former one was just to target televisions during holi. Another one was "sirf dekhne ka nahi" the campaign that proved successful in irking people rather than making them dance. Farah khan insisting everybody dance as per her dance moves was pretty funny, but not that much. Indians dance freely, they cannot repeat same step on every six or wicket and most importantly we abuse more often than dance while watching cricket, instead of dance steps they should have tried for "o teri maa di" "o teri bhen di" sayings and that would have adapted by Indian public more easily (you can thank me later for this idea).

IPL is indeed a paisa vasool entertainment, and most importantly, short matches that last 3 hrs only. If you are a true cricket lover (who love following cricket within cricket ethics) may not like this form of cricket, but if you are looking for pure sports entertainment.. do watch IPL. This is not just a business, not just a game, not just entertainment.. this is a trend and pure cricket-fun.
